The Edo State government has ordered an investigation into the death of a Benin-based realtor and businessman, Joel Isibor.

Isibor was reportedly killed by armed men on Friday after they broke into his business premises located at Second Ugbor, Benin.

The assailant was said to have shot the deceased while he was trying to close his business store. According to his spouse, nothing was removed from the store.

During a visit to the family of the slain businessman, Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa condemned the killing.

He stated that his principal, Monday Okpebholo, was saddened by the brutal murder of the vibrant young man.

He assured that the state government would pursue the arrest of those responsible for this act and ensure they are held accountable.

“This is a sad occurrence and we call on the security agencies to arrest and bring the killers to justice. We will give them the support to ensure that they accomplish this task,” he said.

Idahosa added that the state government would synergise with security agencies to launch a high-scale investigation into the matter, to apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous act and bring them to justice.

He assured the bereaved family of the state government’s unwavering commitment to identify with them.
