The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, on Monday, decorated over 1,000 newly promoted officers in the state command.

He also urged them to remain disciplined and committed to their duties.

This was contained in a statement signed by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer, on Monday.

According to the statement, a total of 1,020 officers were decorated with new ranks, following their promotion by the Police Service Commission on the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

The promoted officers include Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operation, Umar Ahmed Chuso, who was earlier decorated by the IGP with the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP); Area Commander of Wudil, Fudaiku Sani Kura, who was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP); and several Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and senior officers who were decorated with the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).

Others include: 119 Inspectors promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II), 490 Sergeants promoted to Inspectors, 400 Corporals promoted to Sergeants and 5 Constables promoted to Corporals

Speaking at the event, CP Bakori congratulated the officers and described the promotion as part of the IGP’s efforts to improve police welfare and morale.

“We are here to rejoice with our colleagues who have been promoted to new ranks. This is in line with the vision of the IGP to end stagnation and reward commitment. Since he came into office, promotions have been coming regularly. We thank the IGP and the Police Service Commission for this.”

CP Bakori urged the officers to see their new ranks as a call to do more.

“Promotion is not just about wearing a new rank. It means more responsibility and a higher expectation from the public. You must work harder, be disciplined, and serve the people with integrity.”

He also thanked the families of the officers for their support.
