Corpse Of Missing LASU Graduate Found By Campus Fence

The Lagos State Police Command has exhumed the body of 28-year-old Lagos State University (LASU) graduate Adedamola Ogunbode, two months after he was declared missing.

Ogunbode, who disappeared on January 16, was buried in a shallow grave behind the LASU fence in Ojo.

The discovery was made after a suspect led police to the site.

Speaking at the scene on Wednesday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that four suspects had been arrested in connection with the murder, while a manhunt was ongoing for four others.

The suspects allegedly transferred all the money from Ogunbode’s bank account before killing him and sharing the proceeds.

“January 16 was when all this started after a report was received by the Ojo Police Division that the young man went missing.

“After the new Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, assumed duty on February 18, he gave orders to the State Criminal Investigation Department to investigate the case.

“That was when the case was upgraded from that of a missing person to a case of suspected murder.

“This led to the arrest of one of the principal suspects, who not only confessed to killing the young man but also led us here, where the victim was buried.

“Now that we have seen the body, the investigation is gradually coming to an end. We will intensify efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects,” Hundeyin stated.

The police spokesman assured Lagos residents that justice would be served.

“The suspects will definitely be prosecuted to ensure that justice is served. We use this opportunity to commiserate with the family of the deceased,” he added.
