Bridge Collapse Cuts Off Katsina-Batsari Road

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a public alert on the collapse of a bridge along the Katsina–Batsari route, a few meters after Salbak Filling Station near Shagari Lowcost in Katsina State, following a downpour on Saturday night.
In a statement signed on Sunday by the Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC said the incident has rendered the affected section of the road impassable, posing a serious risk to motorists.
According to the Sector Commander in Katsina State, CC Maxwell Lede, who conducted an on-the-spot assessment on Sunday, the section of the road where the bridge collapsed has been temporarily closed to traffic.
FRSC personnel have cordoned off the area from both ends to safeguard road users.
To ease movement and prevent congestion, the Corps has provided alternative routes —From Katsina to Batsari, Motorists should use Ring Road via Al-Qalam University.
Also, from Batsari to Katsina, Motorists were advised to take the Army Barracks–Jibia Road to reconnect to Katsina.

The FRSC warned motorists to avoid the collapsed bridge site, particularly during the late evening or in rainy conditions when visibility is poor, to prevent potential crashes.
