NBTE accredits Adamawa skills centres

The National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, has formally approved the Adamawa State Technical Training Skills Centres to offer the National Certificate in Technology, NCT.

The approval means that holders of certificates from the centres will be recognised by employers anywhere in the world.

Adamawa State’s Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency, PAWECA, which manages the centres, disclosed this on Monday, announcing plans for the centres to resume academic activities soon.

The Director-General of PAWECA, Dr Michael Zira, told newsmen during a briefing in Yola that the 10 technical skills centres spread across Adamawa’s three senatorial zones would now be required to deliver technical skills strictly in accordance with NBTE standards.

Zira urged candidates who sat the entrance examination for the centres two months ago to check their names on the admission lists posted at the respective local government secretariats.

He added that the state government is determined to make Adamawa a business hub, moving away from its current status as a civil servant state, through youth empowerment enabled by skills acquired from the technical training centres.
