Millions of residents across Spain, Portugal, and parts of France were left without electricity on Monday after a mysterious grid failure.
The Spanish government announced it had convened an emergency crisis meeting to address the situation urgently, reports ABC News, citing government officials.
Spain’s national grid operator, Red Eléctrica, verified that widespread outages were affecting much of the country. Efforts are underway to restore power, and technicians are currently investigating the root cause of the disruption.
“All resources are being dedicated to solving it,” Red Eléctrica said in a statement on X.
Authorities have urged people to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Emergency generators are also being deployed to critical areas to support essential services while restoration efforts continue
