Binance Appoints Co-CEO As It Targets 1B Users

Binance has entered a new chapter in its leadership journey as Co-Founder Yi He steps into the role of Co-CEO, a move announced during Binance Blockchain Week and later confirmed in a detailed statement shared on X. Her elevation marks one of the most significant leadership shifts the exchange has made since its inception, and it comes as Binance approaches a major milestone of 300 million users worldwide.
Richard Teng, who currently leads the company as CEO, described the development as a natural step for an organisation that has expanded rapidly while striving to reinforce its regulatory presence across global markets. He emphasised that Yi He has long been a central figure behind Binance’s culture and strategic direction, noting that her focus on innovation and user needs has shaped the platform’s growth from the early days. Teng reiterated that Binance intends to strengthen its identity as a trusted, well-regulated exchange and believes Yi He’s leadership will play a major role as the company works toward an even more ambitious target—reaching one billion users.
Yi He, reflecting on her new position, highlighted the shared vision she holds with Teng. She described working alongside him as a privilege, acknowledging his deep experience in traditional financial regulation and early involvement in crypto oversight. According to her, their contrasting yet complementary perspectives position Binance to lead the industry through a period defined by rapid change, heightened scrutiny, and rising adoption. She reaffirmed the company’s intention to expand responsibly while championing innovation centred on users.
Following the announcement, Binance published an official message welcoming Yi He into her new role. The statement praised her longstanding influence across the ecosystem, underscoring her role in nurturing the company’s identity, guiding product development, and maintaining its user-first ethos. The exchange said the joint leadership of Yi He and Teng will be instrumental in navigating upcoming phases of global expansion, especially as regulatory expectations evolve and the company aims to demonstrate even greater transparency and accountability.
The leadership update also restated Binance’s core mission: broadening global access to digital assets, protecting users, and encouraging safe, informed adoption of cryptocurrencies. The company suggested that the combined strengths of Yi He and Teng signal a more mature and institutionally aligned direction for the exchange. Industry observers have noted that Yi He has always played an influential leadership role, even if not always formally recognised, making this appointment an affirmation of responsibilities she has long carried.
With Binance inching closer to 300 million users and preparing for a future defined by both opportunity and scrutiny, Yi He’s appointment sets the tone for a new era. Together, the two leaders are expected to guide the exchange through continued growth, product innovation, regulatory integration, and broader global outreach. The company framed its outlook optimistically, ending its announcement with a clear message of intent: the path forward leads toward welcoming one billion users.
