‘It wasn’t intentional’ — Nomy breaks silence after BBNaija disqualification

By Adegboyega Adeleye

Former Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate, Whitney Chukwu, popularly known as Nomy, has broken her silence following her disqualification from the ‘Show Ya Sef’ edition, apologising to fans and expressing regret over her abrupt exit from the reality show.

Nomy spoke during a recent X Space session, where she thanked her supporters for standing by her and said she would have approached her time in the house differently if she had realised how much support she had outside.

“I am sorry to anyone whom I have let down. It wasn’t intentional,” she said.

“If I had known I had this much support waiting for me at home, I would have done everything that I could to get to the finale, but I guess it was just meant to work out this way.”

Nomy also thanked fans for their support throughout her time on the show, saying their backing had made the experience worthwhile despite her unexpected exit.

“I am sorry for letting you down, and I am fine,” she said.

“Thank you for checking on me. Thank you for supporting me, even when you didn’t have to. I am so blessed to have you guys, and I just want to say thank you. I can’t wait to speak and see each and every one of you.”

She added: “You guys have made this whole experience worth it for me. It will not have worked out the way I wanted it to or the way you guys wanted it to, but I am so happy to have you.”

Nomy’s comments come two days after Big Brother disqualified her from the Season 11 house for repeatedly defying his instructions, rules and punishments.

Vanguard reported that Nomy had earlier received a final strike after repeatedly ignoring Big Brother’s directives, along with issues involving tardiness and selective participation in house activities. Despite the final warning, she continued to disregard instructions, leading to her disqualification.

She was subsequently given 30 minutes to pack her belongings and leave the house, bringing her campaign for the ₦160 million grand prize to an abrupt end.

The latest breach, which led to her disqualification, was connected to the Benchwarmer punishment imposed after a Head of House challenge, following earlier warnings over her conduct in the house.

The 2026 Big Brother Naija season started on July 26 with 24 housemates and the winner is expected to receive a record N160 million grand prize, the biggest in the reality show’s history.
