Basketball legend, LeBron James is delighted ahead of his 22nd NBA season, and his first season of playing alongside his son, Bronny.
James is set for a record-equalling 22nd season in the NBA at the age of 39, and also in line to become the first father and son to play together in the history of the competition.
Bronny, who is James’ eldest son was taken by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
James has described the prospect of playing alongside his son in the NBA as a pure joy.
He said: “Just pure joy, man, I don’t have any words.
“I can speak about me. You guys ask me questions about me. When it comes to him, I’m just at a loss for words.
“Just super proud. Super proud of him for getting to this point. He’s a man. He’s ready to go.”
Bronny is grateful for the opportunity to play alongside his legendary father.
He said: “This is a crazy feeling, just looking over at my dad taking pictures, it was like: ‘What’s going on right now?
“I’m just kind of taking it all in. Extremely grateful for the opportunity.”
James said he is not under pressure ahead of the new season and has promised to lead by example under new coach, JJ Redick.
He said: “Is there anything left for me to accomplish as a basketball player? No.
“Everything else is extra credit. I’ll take it though. I love it. I love what I do. But I’ve got everything.
“I’m going to lead by example, I’m going to lead with my voice. My voice is very commanding.”
The Lakers suffered a first-round playoff defeat to the Denver Nuggets, but James believes there is room for improvement ahead of the new season.
“We have to hold each other accountable, help each other, demand more out of each other.
The Lakers host the Minnesota Timberwolves in their regular-season opener on October 17.
