Anambra Guber: SDP’s Sunnyside Declares Soludo A Failure, Backs APC

Former House of Representatives candidate under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chuka Sunnyside, has backed Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.

Sunnyside told journalists that he had collapsed his political structure to support Ukachukwu’s campaign ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

He dismissed the growing praise for Governor Charles Soludo, calling it media propaganda.

“All the media hypes about the incumbent governor, Charles Soludo doing well is nothing but flukes,” Sunnyside said.

He compared Soludo’s performance with that of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, and said Soludo fell short.

“A visit to Abia State will convince every doubting Thomas that Gov. Soludo is not doing well at all Governor Alex Otti of Abia has positively transformed his state in concrete terms,” he said.

Sunnyside criticised the current state of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), saying it no longer reflects the vision of its founding leader, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu.

“Many of us came into APGA because of the visions and political philosophy of Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, but the current managers of the party have deviated from the original ideas of Ikemba Nnewi,” he said.

He also accused Soludo of sidelining original APGA members.

“The incumbent governor who was not with us from the beginning has used his attitude to send them packing,” Sunnyside added.

He further alleged that Soludo is playing a double game by aligning with both APC and APGA.

“Gov. Soludo is playing hide and seek game with Ndi-Anambra with his one leg in APC and the other in APGA. But the truth is that the Presidency is not deceived by his antics.

“At the right time, he would be made to swallow the bitter tablets of double-dealing,” he said.

Sunnyside questioned how Soludo has used the state’s federal allocations and other resources.

“The volume of resources available to Soludo in the area of federal allocations, security votes and allied resources has not been justified by his below-par performance in the last three years,” he said.

Backing Prince Ukachukwu, Sunnyside said the APC candidate has the integrity and experience needed to lead Anambra.

“Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu was a member of the House of Representatives, representing Abuja Municipal. He is a personality who will serve Ndi-Anambra with the fear of God — that is largely lacking in Gov. Soludo,” he stated.

He also accused Soludo of being hostile to religious groups.

“It is an open secret that Soludo is not at peace with the Catholic Church, Anglican Communion. He has been clamping down on persons carrying out evangelism.

“Even the traditionalists are not spared from the overbearing attitude of the so-called professor.

“A man can be a professor of Economics but that does not confer on him the status of Mr. Know-it-all. Things are not working in Anambra State under the watch of Soludo.

“The touted security exploits are only on the media space; people are being abducted and killed in broad daylight,” Sunnyside alleged.

He urged Anambra voters to reject Soludo in the coming election.

“I call on all the well-meaning people of Anambra State to join hands with me to enthrone Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu Ikukuoma as the next governor,” he said.
