After Resignation as Minister, Adelabu Declares to Run for Oyo Governorship Election

Adebayo Adelabu, a former Minister of Power, has officially made his intention known to contest in the Oyo State governorship election in 2027 during his highly anticipated visit to the state on Thursday, news.ng reports.

Adelabu, who was welcomed by a mammoth crowd largely made up of his supporters, said he resigned from office to pursue his long-standing gubernatorial ambition in Oyo State.

He said, “The singular reason for my resignation is to come back and plead for the opportunity to represent our party as the Guber candidate in the 2027 general elections. That is the only reason why I resigned.”

On why he decided to resign from his ministerial appointment to embark on a journey he is not sure of, the former minister said, “And this is not my first time of taking such a risk, because it is what I believe in, and I am ready to sacrifice anything to ensure that I get to that position of representing our party and of winning the election.

“I am believing in God. I’m believing in our party members, our party leaders, that I am going to secure the ticket to represent our party as the Guba candidate and proceed to win the general election, inshallah.”

Adelabu promised that upon his election as governor, he will make development a top priority in the state and would hit the ground running.

The former minister said, “He sees my plan. He sees my resolve to serve humanity, to serve the people of Oyo State, and to give my best to ensure that Oyo State regains its status as a pacesetter state, that infrastructure development in Oyo State is given top priority, that the prosperity of our people of Oyo State will be assured during my reign, and to ensure that the sec-security, the physical and social infrastructure of Oyo State will attain its optimal status during my reign.

“This is what I have prepared for in the last twelve years, since 2014, 2015, before my election in twenty and my election in twenty twenty-three. Once we resume, we are going to hit the ground running.”

I believe in the people of Oyo State that I will secure the APC ticket to represent our party as the gubernatorial candidate and proceed to win the general election, Insha Allah, because God sees my heart.
