The wife of the Abia state governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, in a gesture aimed at uplifting vulnerable communities in Abia State, has extended her benevolence to six orphanages and destitute homes in Aba and Umuahia.

The initiative involved cash donations of ₦6m, with each home receiving ₦1m in addition to over 30 50kg bags of rice, assorted food supplies, and essential toiletries. Caregivers were also recognized, with cash gifts ranging from ₦100,000 to ₦150,000 given to appreciate their dedication to the care of vulnerable children and individuals.

Among the beneficiaries were Ahiaeke Motherless Babies Home, Agape Charity Home, So-Said Charity Homes, St. Vincent De Paul Center for Mentally and Physically Challenged Persons, Ngwa Road Motherless Babies Home, and SDA Motherless Babies Home.

Representing Mrs. Otti during the outreach on Saturday, the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adaeze Emetu, reiterated the administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the less privileged.

“This initiative demonstrates the unwavering dedication of the current administration to uplifting the vulnerable and ensuring their well-being remains a priority,” she stated.

The event also featured the presence of Mrs. Maureen Aghukwa, Commissioner for Women Affairs, and Mrs. Ifeoma Thomas, Special Assistant to the Governor on Poverty Alleviation and Vulnerable Groups. Both commended Mrs. Otti for her impactful efforts and applauded the caregivers for their selfless service to humanity.

Leaders of the benefitting homes, including Rev. Sister Maria Anita Ogbonna of Ahiaeke Motherless Babies Home and Madam Oyibo Okonkwo of Agape Charity Home, expressed profound gratitude to Mrs. Otti and Governor Alex Otti. “We are grateful for their compassion and commitment to our welfare,” they noted, offering prayers for wisdom and blessings upon the first family.

Notably, this gesture is not an isolated one, as earlier in the year, Mrs. Otti personally visited Susana Homes in Ukwa East, where she donated ₦1m alongside food items and other essentials as well.
