Edo, Bayelsa Queens Clash In Women’s League Title Decider

The Champions of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) will be crowned on Sunday as teams prepare for a decisive last round of fixtures.
Third placed Nasarawa Amazons with seven points face fifth placed Rivers Angels with three points. Fourth placed Abia Angels with five points take on bottom placed FC Robo Queens who have three points after four matches, while second placed Bayelsa Queens with seven points confront Edo Queens who occupy first position on the log with nine points in a top of the table clash that will determine champions.
Match day 4 saw Abia Angels and Nasarawa Amazons share the spoils at the Adokie Amesiamaka stadium in Port-Harcourt, thereby forcing coach Christopher Danjuma’s Rivers Ladies to go two games without a win after opening the tournament with back-to-back victories.
Bayelsa Queens kept their title defence on track with a crucial 2-0 victory over FC Robo Queens as they head into the final round.
Moses Aduku’s Edo Queens continued their strong run in the competition, moving closer to reclaiming the trophy they last won two seasons ago as they extended their winning run to three consecutive matches after a 2-1 against Rivers Angels in the South-South derby.
The NWFL Super Six Competition has featured the top three teams from Group A and Group B of the regular season, competing in a round-robin format, with each club playing five matches over nine days.
The winners of the NWFL Premiership title will pocket N10 million prize. The prize money is part of an overall N24.5 million total prize package for the Super Six playoffs, which guarantees financial payouts to all participating clubs. With the champions earning ten million naira, the runners-up will pocket six million naira, third place team four million naira and the bottom three teams 1.5 million naira each.
The competition which will determine Nigeria’s representative for the WAFU-B qualifiers for a place at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League and ultimately the 2027 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, began on June 5 to end on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
