Tottenham Hotspur XI vs Brentford – Predicted lineup and team news

Tottenham Hotspur travel to West London looking to start 2026 with a statement victory against Brentford.

Manager Thomas Frank returns to his former home for the first time since taking the Spurs job in the summer. Consequently, the emotional stakes are high as Tottenham aim to improve their 13th-place league position.

Spurs arrive with momentum following a hard-fought 1-0 win at Crystal Palace. Teenager Archie Gray was the hero that day and is expected to retain his place in the midfield pivot. However, Spurs have historically struggled in the month of January. Therefore, Frank must inspire a shift in mentality to spoil the homecoming celebrations at the Gtech.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Thomas Frank receives a massive defensive boost as captain Cristian Romero returns from a one-match suspension. He is expected to start alongside Micky van de Ven in the heart of the defence. Additionally, Lucas Bergvall is expected to be fit after a minor scare at Selhurst Park. The 19-year-old has established himself as a creative force in the Spurs midfield this season.

However, the medical room remains crowded at Hotspur Way. Dominic Solanke appears to have returned to team training but is unlikely to feature today. Long-term absentees James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Destiny Udogie remain unavailable. Furthermore, Xavi Simons serves the final game of his suspension. AFCON duty also claims Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma. Consequently, Archie Gray will likely partner Rodrigo Bentancur in a vital midfield battle.
