Morgan Rogers 'sold' on summer transfer to Arsenal

Morgan Rogers is reportedly ‘sold’ on the prospect of joining Arsenal this summer and has ‘respectfully’ told senior figures at Aston Villa that he wants to leave the club this summer.

Arsenal have made Rogers a priority target for the summer transfer window with the Gunners keen to land the England midfielder.

Mikel Arteta wants to bring in Rogers to strengthen his title-winning squad, valuing the 23-year-old’s ball-carrying and goal threat from a variety of positions.

Rogers scored 14 goals in all competitions last season, helping Aston Villa to a top-four finish and Europa League success. He’s currently with the England squad in Texas ahead of their World Cup opener against Croatia tonight.

According to Arsenal insider Hand of Arsenal, Rogers has told Villa that he would like to explore the move. Personal terms are not expected to be an issue with Rogers prioritising the North Londoners, despite interest from rival clubs.

Chelsea have been in contact to persuade Rogers to assess their project, but a lack of Champions League football has hindered hopes. Manchester United have also explored a move.

A potential transfer hinges on Arsenal’s ability to agree a fee with Aston Villa. Rogers is valued at Villa Park in excess of £80m and Arsenal may require sales first to fund the deal.
