Jurgen Klopp will reportedly hold talks with the DFB over becoming the next Germany manager after receiving an approach from the association.
The Germany national team job is vacant after Julian Nagelsmann tendered his resignation following the side’s shock exit from the FIFA World Cup 2026.

According to Sky Deutschland, Klopp will sit down for talks with officials from the German football association in New York next about taking on the role.
The former Liverpool boss confirmed his interest in the post and that the DFB had reached out to him about potentially succeeding Nagelsmann in an interview with Magenta TV on Friday.
“Yes, I can confirm the talks,” Klopp revealed. “Things moved along quite quickly. Julian has resigned, and the DFB is working on a successor. And in the course of these considerations, they approached me.”
Klopp is currently the Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull GmbH, with whom he has a contract until 2029. The DFB, it is claimed, does not believe that getting the 59-year-old out of his current job will be a problem. It will be the first time they have paid a fee to hire a new head coach.
“I have an existing contract with Red Bull. I’ve said many times how much I enjoy this job. As a person, I usually honor contracts. But I’ve also made it clear that I’m interested in talks with the DFB,” added Klopp.
Klopp does not expect Red Bull to stand in his way of taking the Germany job and says he is ready to return to the dugout two years after leaving Liverpool due to “running out of energy”.
“Now isn’t the perfect timing. But it’s better than it’s ever been. I’m more than refuelled now, I’m ready,” he said.
Klopp has previously stated that he had retired as a coach and had no intention of making a return. When he was linked with the Real Madrid job earlier this year, he denied the rumours but admitted that he was open to a return to management.
