Iraola set to sign short-term deal as new Liverpool manager

Andoni Iraola is expected to sign only a two-year contract to become Liverpool’s new manager.

Iraola has emerged as the club’s top target to replace Arne Slot with a verbal agreement reached with the former Bournemouth boss.

However, Iraola will sign a short-term deal of just two seasons at Anfield, as is the Spaniard’s insistence and preference with previous clubs.

Liverpool have also opened talks with Bournemouth to recruit several members of Iraola’s former backroom staff.

Among those being pursued are Tommy Elphick, Shaun Cooper, and Tom Webber, while the out-of-contract Pablo de la Torre will also join Iraola’s coaching team.

The negotiations are being led by Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, who retains an excellent relationship with former club Bournemouth. Hughes had been behind the decision to appoint Iraola on the south coast in 2023.
