Chelsea shut door on Barcelona with untouchable Pedro call
Chelsea have declared Joao Pedro untouchable amid interest from Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona.
Diario Sport reports that the Blues place enormous faith in the Brazilian and have no intention of listening to offers this summer. Their stance effectively ends any prospect of a move to Camp Nou.
The position is not merely posturing, either. Fabrizio Romano reports Chelsea would rebuff any approach for Pedro, even one worth more than £100m, viewing him as central to their long-term project. He is regarded as one of the club’s foundations.

Xabi Alonso is among his firmest admirers. The new head coach considers Pedro a complete, versatile attacker, whose movement and adaptability across the front line suit the style he wants to implement. That endorsement has reinforced Chelsea’s resolve.
His debut season justified their faith. Pedro joined from Brighton for around £60m in 2025 and scored more than 20 goals across all competitions. He was subsequently voted Chelsea’s Player of the Season.

His contract leaves the club in complete control. Pedro is tied to Stamford Bridge until 2033, meaning Chelsea are under no pressure whatsoever to sell. Any suitor would face an enormous fee even if the door were ajar.
For Barcelona, it is a familiar frustration. Deco had turned to Pedro as an alternative to Julian Alvarez, only for Atletico Madrid to insist the Argentine is not for sale. Both primary targets are now out of reach.
The Catalans face a growing dilemma up front. Having declined to renew Robert Lewandowski’s deal, their list of viable striker options is shortening, with Ferran Torres also linked with an exit.
Chelsea, by contrast, are shaping their squad from a position of strength. While Pedro stays put, the Blues have sanctioned several sales this summer as Alonso trims a bloated squad, without touching their prized forward.
