Chelsea break remarkable running stat in Liverpool draw
Chelsea have broken one of the Premier League’s most remarkable seasonal statistics during the club’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.
The result ended a six-game losing run for the Blues, as Enzo Fernandez cancelled out Ryan Gravenberch’s opener for Liverpool.
Opta have revealed that extra effort was a contributing factor to the win, with Chelsea’s 103.6km covered slightly more than the 102.9km of their opponents.
Incredibly, it’s the FIRST time this season that Chelsea have outran the opposition, in the club’s 36th game of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
Quite what that says about Liverpool, whose physicality and running power has been criticised this season, is another thing.
