Nigerian-South African beauty queen, Chidimma Adetshina, has shared the personal challenges she encountered during her pageantry journey.

In a recent interview on the Big Friday Show with host Tacha from Big Brother Naija, she opened up about struggling with identity issues stemming from her dual citizenship.

When questioned about her decision to pursue pageantry full-time, Chidimma expressed her ambition to strive for the title of Miss Universe.

“I think it’s something I started recently; however, I’ve had this dream since 2017 to become the next Miss Universe. I’m really glad I have been given the platform and the opportunity to at least try and reach that goal,” she said.

Chidinma also revealed how she managed the identity crisis, “It has been a long journey, so hard at times. I would cry myself to sleep, questioning ‘Why me?’. I had to shift my perspective to see potential greatness emerging from these challenges.”

This interview follows Chidimma’s exit from the Miss South Africa pageant amidst allegations of fraud and identity theft involving her mother by the South African Home Office.

Chidimma faced criticism in South Africa during her Miss South Africa contestant announcement.

Subsequently, she received an invitation from the Silverbird Group to join the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, which she accepted.
