Flick tight-lipped on Rashford's future at Barcelona

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has remained tight-lipped on Marcus Rashford’s future at the club.

Rashford scored as Barcelona extended their lead in La Liga to seven points with a 2-1 win at Atletico Madrid. The on-loan Manchester United winger netted an equaliser as Barcelona came from behind to beat 10-man Atleti, courtesy of Robert Lewandowski’s late winner.

Rashford has now scored 11 goals for Barcelona in all competitions this season, and the Spanish side have an option to sign the 28-year-old permanently for a fee of €30m in the summer.

Despite admitting that he has been ‘very happy’ with Rashford’s performances, Flick was coy on whether the permanent clause would be triggered. He suggested a decision will wait until the end of the campaign.

“I’m very happy with Marcus. He has shown his quality and he scored an important goal,” Flick said after the win at Atletico.

“I can’t say anything about his future, we have to focus in the matches until the end of the season.”
