Unity Cup: It’s always an honour to represent Nigeria – Dessers

Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers is delighted to make a return to the Super Eagles after more than one-year absence, DAILY POST reports.

Dessers last featured for the Super Eagles in a friendly against the Eagles of Mali in March 2024.

The 30-year-old has been consistently overlooked since then despite his impressive form at club level.

The striker is currently part of the Super Eagles squad taking part at the Unity Cup invitational tournament in London.

Dessers declared that it is always an honour to play for the three-time African champions.

“I’m very happy to be back. It’s always an honour to be called up and to be here with the boys and the staff,” said Dessers to the Super Eagles media team.

“When you look in the mirror, you see Nigeria. At the moment I got the call, I didn’t have to think about it for a long time. When you get the call you want to go, I went.”

The Super Eagles will take on Black Stars of Ghana in their opening fixture of the Unity Cup on Wednesday (today).
