UCL: Thierry Henry names best striker of this generation ahead of second leg ties

Ahead of this week’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final second legs, former Arsenal and Barcelona attacker Thierry Henry has named Robert Lewandowski the best striker of this generation.

The former Bayern Munich attacker, Lewandowski, has not slowed down since moving from the Allianz Arena to Camp Nou.

He has been a consistent goalscorer at the highest level over the years and is having a stellar season even at the age of 36.

The 36-year-old has been exceptional for Barcelona this season, with 40 goals and three assists in 45 games.

He has done this at Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and now Barca over the years.

And for Henry, the striker does not often get the credit he deserves.

Henry told Bolavip, “The best striker of the generation. Obviously, and by far, considering what he’s done at Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and now at Barcelona.

I don’t care what people say about it being easier when you play in a great team with great players. We’ve seen Griezmann go to Barcelona and not be able to do it. It’s not that simple. People need to understand that.

If he stays at Barcelona, plays with the energy of the younger players, and keeps finishing chances… the numbers don’t lie.”

The Poland international striker has netted a total of 618 goals in club football over the years in 816 appearances.

In 158 caps for Poland, the striker has scored 85 times while providing 35 assists.

Arsenal, with one leg in the semi-finals already, are in Madrid to get the job completely done on Wednesday. The first leg ended in a 3-0 win over the title holders.

Barcelona recorded a 4-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in Germany, while PSG beat Aston Villa 3-1. Inter Milan, on the other hand, beat Bayern Munich 1-0 in the first leg.
