Arsenal legend, Paul Merson has backed the Gunners to win the UEFA Champions League trophy this season.
Merson said Arsenal can ‘technically’ win the title this term, adding that the Gunners have a fair chance if they reach finals.
Arsenal are through to the Champions League semi-final stage.
Mikel Arteta’s side defeated Real Madrid both home and away in the quarter-final.
Arsenal won 3-0 in the first leg last week at Emirates Stadium and also won 2-1 in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
They will face Paris Saint-Germain in a semi-final encounter later this month.
“Over the years, when Real Madrid used to pull off incredible comebacks by scoring late, they used to create chances till the end,” Merson told Sportskeeda.
“In all honesty, they were never really in the game during that second leg defeat.
“Can Arsenal go on and win the Champions League from here? Well, technically yes. PSG were on the ropes against Aston Villa in their second leg clash.
“But I still have a feeling Arsenal will be made to work a lot harder in the semi-final. If they can push hard and play well, they can get to the final.
“And any team that gets to the final will have a fair chance of winning it this year in my opinion.”
