UCL: Joe Cole reveals huge advantage PSG have over Arsenal in semi-final tie
Former Chelsea winger Joe Cole has revealed the ‘huge advantage’ Paris Saint-Germain have over Arsenal for their UEFA Champions League semi-final tie.
Both PSG and Arsenal booked their places in the Champions League semi-final stage after the conclusion of the last-8 fixtures.
The French Ligue 1 champions defeated Aston Villa, while Arsenal defeated Real Madrid.
Arsenal and PSG will clash in the Champions League last-4 later this month.
“It’s an absolutely brilliant night for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta,” Cole told TNT Sports. “The club is in a fantastic place.
“The league has gone, but their full focus is on this competition. They played PSG before [in the Champions League group phase], so there is no uncertainty there.
“A sticking point for Arsenal is the second leg is in Paris. I think that is massive, especially now that the away goal rule has been taken away.
“I think that is a huge advantage for the team [PSG] that have that.
“But you can’t take anything away from Arsenal tonight; it is such a fantastic night. They were absolutely brilliant to go to Madrid and do that at the Bernabeu.”
The Champions League semi-final first-leg tie will take place later this month at Emirates Stadium, while the return leg will take place in Paris in May.
