UCL: Comeback part of Real Madrid’s history – Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that comebacks are part of Real Madrid’s history.

Arteta stated this while speaking to the media today, ahead of the second leg of their quarter-final clash with Los Blancos.

The Gunners lead 3–0 from the first leg at the Emirates last week.

Since that heavy defeat in North London, the Madrid press have ramped up their optimism regarding the team’s ability to overturn the deficit and qualify for the semi-finals.

Arteta, speaking on Real Madrid’s potential comeback, said: “It’s part of their history and they’ve earned the right to talk about these scenarios.

“Our mindset is different in how we have the best chance to be better than them.”

When asked if his team is afraid of Madrid’s history and aura in the competition, Arteta replied: “Fear? I wouldn’t use that word.

“Respect, admiration for what they’ve done in the competition as a club over the years.

“The history that they have and the values that they defend. Unbelievable, amazing. An inspiration to any coach or manager.”
