Transfer: Carragher hands Arsenal two signings to make amid title race

Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher has urged Arsenal to sign two attacking players in the January transfer window in a bid to compete for the Premier League title this season.

According to Carragher, Mikel Arteta’s side need options up front following Bukayo Saka’s injury.

Saka had sustained an hamstring injury during Arsenal’s win at Crystal Palace in December

The England winger will be out of action until March, 2025.

However, in his 2025 predictions on The Telegraph, Carragher insisted the Gunners rely too much on Saka, adding that they need to bring in two more top attackers.

“Arteta has been too reliant on the same players, none more so than Bukayo Saka. Every side would miss a player of his class, but the reaction to Saka’s hamstring injury shows he has carried too much responsibility.

“Arteta needs at least two more top attacking players. I am not talking about back-ups in the event of injury, but starters who will keep the opposition manager guessing as to what the starting XI will be.

“Arsenal’s biggest problem right now is their injuries. They managed to avoid too much disruption in the last two years, but their squad has been stretched this time.

“Mikel Arteta will find the answers to ensure the team improves in the second half of the season, and they have built valuable experience of a run-in.

“If they can get to March still close, they will believe,” Carragher said.

Arsenal have been linked with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak and Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.
