Real Madrid refuse to grants Alonso’s request on Modric
Real Madrid reportedly refused to grant incoming manager, Xabi Alonso’s request to keep Luka Modric at the club.
According to Diario AS, Alonso told Real Madrid that it would be better to keep Modric, but the club said no.
Modric will play his last LaLiga game for Real Madrid when they face Real Sociedad on the final day of the season on Saturday.
The 39-years-old will leave the Los Blancos after the end of their FIFA Club World Cup campaign this summer.
Modric joined Real Madrid from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in 2012.
The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner won 28 trophies, including six UEFA Champions Leagues and four domestic titles during his time at Madrid.
Both past and present Real Madrid players have already paid tributes to the Croatian midfielder as he is set to leave the Spanish LaLiga giants.
Modric is expected to represent his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
