Piero Hincapie aims dig at Liverpool captain after Arsenal win at Anfield
Piero Hincapie has gone very niche with a dig at Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk after the Gunners won at Anfield on Sunday.
Kai Havertz scored the only goal of an entertaining game on Merseyside as Mikel Arteta’s side climbed to the top of the Premier League table and the Reds remained fifth.
Despite there only being one goal and Liverpool not managing a shot on target, it was a great match with plenty of incident, including Alexis Mac Allister trying to get Noni Madueke sent off and being branded ’embarrassing’ by Jamie Carragher as a result.
There was clearly an edge to the match at times and that continued after the final whistle as Hincapie posted on Instagram.

It will not have been clear to all what he meant when he posted three pictures from the match with the caption: ‘I don’t forget…’
The third and final picture was a close up of the gold Premier League badge on the sleeve of Arsenal’s kit.
The gold logo is only worn by the defending champions in a Premier League season.
It was a response to Van Dijk doing the same in January after a goalless draw between Arsenal and Liverpool at the Emirates.
The Reds were defending champions at the time and the iconic centre-back was thought to be quietly reminding the north Londoners of that.
Hincapie certainly saw it that way and has reminded the Liverpool great who are the champions right now.
It is still very early in the season but Arsenal look in a very strong position to lift the Premier League title again, moving three points clear of Manchester City thanks to an eighth win in nine league games.
The Gunners’ defence continues to be the source of their strength, with just five goals conceded in nine Premier League outings, three of which came in their one defeat to Brighton.
Liverpool were very competitive in the match, but could not produce a single shot on target, with Arteta crediting his entire team for the work they do defensively.
‘I didn’t know about that statistic but that’s incredible,’ he said of goalkeeper David Raya not having to make one save.
‘It didn’t feel like this to be fair on the pitch because there were very little margins sometimes when they had the opportunity to shoot and it’s a team that shoots a lot.
‘You have to be so good at blocking shots and preventing those spaces for them to get into there. Again, it’s a commitment of every single player in every action consistently to deliver those kind of stats and to do it against this team, it’s something remarkable I would say.’
