The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, has placed a ban on the media aide of Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Sammy Wejinya.
Wejinya, a former Rivers United media officer, has been banned from all NPFL-related activities, including league venues, until the end of the season.
The ban comes following a review on Wejinya’s article titled ‘Lafia, pain, blood and escaping death by whiskers’ which the NPFL believes misrepresented the true state of the events.
The NPFL stated that the exaggerated and false statements from the article has harmed the image of NPFL and brought the game into disrepute.
DAILY POST recalls that Wejinya had accused Nasarawa United’s supporters of harassment after Rivers United’s matchday 17 fixture in Lafia.
The league body has now warned Wejinya to refrain from actions that undermine the credibility of the NPFL in future as the decision was taken to safeguard the image of the league.
