NLO warns clubs against poaching of players
The Nationwide League One (NLO) has warned clubs against luring of players from non-professional teams.
The NLO stated that the behaviour is unacceptable according to the rulebook.
The league body said that the action is a punishable offense.
It also pointed out that the Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, stipulated that all amateur players’ transfers are free because they are not on contract, but that does not translate to poaching or inducement.
“The NLO Secretariat hereby wishes to draw the attention of all the clubs in the NLO on the provision of the rules dwelling on poaching players from other clubs,” the statement reads.
“The NLO frowns at this behavior, and it’s totally unacceptable based on the NLO rulebook stated below.
“As a sequel to the above, the Nationwide League One will not hesitate to sanction any erring clubs found in the web of direct or indirect player inducement without going through the right channel.”
