NLO hammer falls on culprits of match-fixing at Maracana centre
The Nationwide League One, NLO, has placed a two-year ban on players of ACT di Sports Oyibo FC, Franceex FC, Bison FC and Seamoriow FC for their involvement in match compromise.
The league body fined all four clubs the sum of N500,000 and also cancelled all the matches played by the clubs in the current season.
The NLO made the pronouncement after investigating the results of the matchday nine fixtures at the Maracana Centre in Lagos.
The results under investigation are ACT di Sports Oyibo’s 2-9 loss to Seamoriow and Franceex’s 9-0 win over Bison.
The NLO pointed out that Bison FC conceded nine goals to give Franceex an edge on goal difference, while Seamoriow FC received goal favours from ACT di Sports Oyibo because they wanted to outwit Franceex on goal difference.
As further punishment for the players and officials, the pictures and names of all culprits involved will be published.
