Mikel Obi suggests when Arteta should leave Arsenal
Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has told Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to leave the club if he fails to win the Premier League title or UEFA Champions League trophy next season.
Recall that Arteta’s side failed to win any trophy last season.
The Gunners finished in second position on the Premier League table behind champions Liverpool.
The Premier League North London club also failed to win the UEFA Champions League after they were eliminated from the competition by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final stage.
Speaking about Arteta, Obi Mikel told talkSPORT: “Is [Mikel Arteta] the guy to take Arsenal to the next level? I think he has built a really, really good team there.
“They are solid, they are playing well. The next level is winning the Premier League and the Champions League. He has been there for five or six years, I give him one more year.
“If he does not do it [win Premier League or Champions League], I think for his sake it’s better to just walk.
“Then he’s not the manager to be able to do it. Get someone new.”
