LaLiga: He’s the best, everyone should emulate him – Luis Figo hails Barça star
Former Real Madrid midfielder, Luis Figo, has hailed Barcelona’s teenage sensation, Lamine Yamal.
He believes the youngster is the “the best” saying that other players should emulate the Spain International’s fearless approach to big games.
The 17-year-old Yamal, has impressed fans with his footballing abilities week in and week out.
At 17, Yamal has won the European championship and has the LaLiga and Champions League before him.
The winger has been pivotal to Barcelona’s title race and has stood out for the Catalan club.
The Barcelona youth team product leads the assists chart in LaLiga this term with 14 assists to his name.
Yamal, on Monday won the ‘Breakthrough of the Year’ award at the 2025 Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony in Madrid.
Former Barcelona and Real Madrid player Luis Figo spoke at the awards ceremony.
Figo waxed lyrical about Yamal before adding that the winger is an example for others.
“He is the best. Everyone should be like him, the way he approaches this type of match.”
Yamal became a member of the Barca first team in 2023, making 36 goal contributions (14 goals and 22 assists) .
