I can’t sleep – Super Falcons Star Ogebe cries out over Benue killings

Super Falcons midfielder, Peace Ogebe, has voiced her heartbreak and frustration over the persistent killings in Benue State, particularly the recent attacks in Idoma community.

In a post shared via her social media handle, Ogebe lamented the ceaseless bloodshed ravaging her home state, stating that she’s been unable to sleep in recent days due to the disturbing news filtering in from the region.

“I am just having sleepless nights these days because of what is happening in Benue State. Like seriously, I can’t just sleep. Why all the killing? What is their aim? I keep asking myself this question yet there’s no answer,” she wrote.

The football star questioned the seeming silence from the government over the spate of attacks, wondering whether the authorities are clueless or deliberately indifferent to the suffering of the people.

“Why is the government quiet over these killings? Is it that they don’t know what to do, or they just intentionally want to be mute,” she added, punctuating her message with tears and heartbreak emojis.

This comes in the wake of fresh attacks that left several people dead in parts of Otukpo and Otobi-Akpa in Otukpo Local Government Area.

Armed men reportedly invaded villages in the area within the past week, unleashing terror on unsuspecting residents, burning homes and displacing families.

Recall that in early April, no fewer than 15 persons were killed in separate attacks on farming communities in the Otukpo axis, with survivors recounting harrowing tales of how armed herders stormed their villages at night, opening fire on innocent men, women and children.

Several others sustained life-threatening injuries while scores were forced to flee their homes for safety.
