Former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has named Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney as the toughest player he ever faced during his career.

According to Cech, the former England international was everywhere on the pitch and gave him nightmares.

The 42-year-old played in the Premier League for 15 years.

He represented Chelsea and Arsenal.

Cech registered 207 clean sheets in 443 Premier League games, lifting the title four times with the Blues.

Speaking to Amazon Prime about the toughest opponent he faced, Cech said: “Wayne Rooney was the one, like when we played United in the league, he was always the one.

“I was like, ‘Oh, come on, this is a nightmare.’ Because he can chip you from the halfway line, and he is relentless.

“He is everywhere. He keeps coming, he keeps pressing, and never gives you half a second.”
