Ethan Nwaneri makes championship league history as Arsenal crush PSV 7-1

Arsenal’s 17-year-old prodigy, Ethan Nwaneri, made history on Wednesday night, becoming the third-youngest player to score in a Champions League knockout match as the Gunners thrashed PSV Eindhoven 7-1 in their last-16 encounter.

Nwaneri, an academy graduate, struck Arsenal’s second goal of the night with a first-time finish from Myles Lewis-Skelly’s cross, marking his eighth goal of a breakthrough season under Mikel Arteta.

His inclusion in the starting XI made him only the third English player to start a Champions League knockout match before turning 18, alongside Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden.

At 17 years and 348 days, Nwaneri’s goal placed him behind only Bojan Krkic and Bellingham as the youngest scorers in Champions League knockout history, surpassing Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala.

His goal, assisted by fellow teenager Lewis-Skelly, also marked the first time two English teenagers had combined for a goal in the competition.

With Arsenal’s dominant performance, they are now poised to face either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals.

Captain Martin Odegaard praised the club’s young stars, highlighting their impact in a crucial European night.
