EPL: It’s criminal, a disaster – Simpson slams Man United star after 3-0 defeat
Former Premier League defender, Danny Simpson, slammed Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot after the Red Devils’ 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday.
He pointed out that it was Dalot’s failure to deal with Brennan Johnson, that led to Spurs’ first goal of the night.
Simpson, who spoke to MUTV, noted that Dalot was unable to track the run of the Tottenham star.
He noted that the Portugal International was slow to recover and never managed to get back in position to defend the back post.
“I see the cross coming, and for Brennan Johnson to have that much space at the back post, I think it’s criminal,” he said.
“I think that’s Dalot’s position, I’m not sure whether he was inverted from midfield or at full back, and he needs to recover.
“After two or three minutes, its obviously a disaster. I think the goal from start to finish was really poor.
“We’ve got to be better at closing the space and reacting, and everyone getting over, shuffling across.
“I think Ugarte, he could have reacted quicker and got over, reacted too late then at that point.”
