De Gea to return to Old Trafford
Manchester United have confirmed on Tuesday that their ex-goalkeeper, David De Gea, is set to return to Old Trafford when they tackle Serie A side Fiorentina at home in August.
De Gea had joined Fiorentina last August as a free agent following his exit from Man United.
He enjoyed an outstanding campaign in the Serie A, as he made 42 appearances and kept eleven clean sheets.
The Spaniard recently extended his contract with Fiorentina until 2028.
However, the 34-year-old is now in line to play against his former club in a pre-season friendly on 9 August.
DAILY POST reports that the shot-stopper was a popular figure during his time in Manchester.
De Gea, however, is guaranteed a wonderful reception when he returns to Old Trafford for the pre-season friendly encounter.
The pre-season friendly tie will represent a last opportunity for Amorim’s side to conclude their preparation ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, starting the following weekend after the Fiorentina encounter.
