Rayan Cherki has admitted that he is hoping that a move to City can give him the platform to win the Ballon d’Or.
The 21-year-old joined City ahead of this year’s Club World Cup after leaving Lyon for an initial £30.6m transfer fee.
Cherki is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in football, after impressing for the Ligue 1 side last season.
Earlier this month, Cherki scored and provided an assist on his international debut for France against Spain.
He now wants to follow in footsteps of new City teammate Rodri, by taking home the Ballon d’Or in future.
“When you see Rodri, he won the Ballon d’Or here,” Cherki said in an interview at City’s Cup World Cup base in Florida.
“It’s clear that with Manchester City it’s possible and I am here for this. I want to win and I think Manchester City wants to win it all. For me that’s better.”
