Abia State contingent in the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival, Gateway Games, has won 47 medals so far in the competition, comprising of gold, silver and medals
The medals include 9 gold, 9 silver, and 29 bronze as more games and categories are yet to be competed.
But of note is a record produced in shot put by Kalu Eke Onwuka, who won Gold medal with a throw of 16.90m.
Onwuka, who is a popularly known as Scorpion, has been a reliable athlete for Abia State.
Nnanna Ijeri also won gold in the 86+kg category of Para Power Lift with a lift of 122kg, while other athletes in different categories have picked medals for the Team Abia,
DAILY POST gathered that in spite injuries to some members of the Team Abia, athletes that are fit are determined to end the National Sports Festival on a high note.
