Oskar Kordus, 20, was hit in the face after the animal was struck by an oncoming car and hurled into his path. His BMW then left the road and rolled into a ditch. The defender was airlifted to hospital but died later the same day. The horror crash happened on the Gosty? bypass in western Poland at around 6am on Monday (21 Sep), as reported by NeedToKnow. A 52-year-old Volkswagen driver had struck a roe deer after it ran onto provincial road 434 between Krajewice and Grabon?g. The impact reportedly sent the animal flying onto the opposite carriageway and through the windscreen of Kordus?s BMW. Prosecutors said the young footballer had no time to react. Witnesses began performing CPR after discovering he was not breathing. Gosty? firefighters said: ?On arrival, one casualty had no vital signs. ?The other person involved was unhurt. ?Firefighters started CPR. ?After the ambulance team arrived, vital signs were restored and the casualty was flown by air ambulance to hospital in Pozna?.? Despite efforts to save him, the Gosty? district prosecutor?s office said Kordus died at around 10.30pm on Monday. The Volkswagen driver was unhurt. Kordus played as a defender for Kania Gosty? in Poland?s fourth tier. He had joined the club from Korona Piaski at the start of the season and had already made seven league appearances. He started against Pogo? Nowe Skalmierzyce on Saturday and had also featured against Ostrovia 1909 earlier this month. Kordus made 26 league appearances for Korona Piaski last season and had previously played at youth level for Zag??bie Lubin and Warta Pozna?. Kania Gosty? paid tribute, saying: ?It is with great sadness and disbelief that we received the news of the death of our player, Oskar Kordus. ?On behalf of the entire Kania Gosty? community we offer his family, loved ones and all his friends our deepest condolences. ?In these extremely difficult moments, we stand with you in pain and are with you in thought and in heart.? His former club Korona Piaski added: ?Yesterday, in tragic circumstances, Oskar Kordus left us. ?He was a product of our club from his earliest years. ?Rest in peace.? Prosecutors are treating the case as a fatal road accident. Funeral details have not yet been released. Polish footballer Oskar Kordus has died after a deer smashed through the windscreen of his car in a freak accident.

The 20-year-old was driving between Krajewice and Grabonóg when an oncoming car hit a deer and sent the animal flying into his BMW travelling in the opposite direction.

The roe deer smashed through the windscreen of Kordus’s car, which then left the road and rolled into a ditch.

The driver of the Volkswagen that initially hit the deer was unhurt, local authorities confirmed, while they attempted to treat Kordus at the scene.

The State Fire Service in Gostyń confirmed in a statement: ‘Upon arrival at the scene and examination, it was determined that one of the injured persons had no vital signs.

‘The other person involved in the incident did not sustain any injuries. Firefighters began cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

‘After the Emergency Medical Services Team arrived, medical procedures continued.

‘Vital signs were restored, and the injured person was transported by air ambulance helicopter to a hospital in Poznań.’

The accident took place at 6am on Monday, but it was confirmed at 10.30pm on Monday that Kordus had died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash, confirmed Polish publication Przeglad Sportowy.

The 20-year-old played for Kania Gostyn in the fourth tier of Polish football and they confirmed the tragic news with ‘disbelief’ in the shocking accident.

‘With great sadness and disbelief we accepted the news of the death of our player, Oskar Kordus,’ the club posted.

‘On behalf of the entire community of Kani Gosty W, we express our deepest condolences to Oskar’s Family, Relatives and all Friends. In these extremely difficult moments, we connect with you in pain and are in our thoughts and hearts with you.

Kordus moved to Kani Gostyn from Korona Piaski, with his former club adding: ‘Yesterday, in tragic circumstances, Oskar Kordus left us.

‘He was a product of our club from his earliest years. Rest in peace.’
