Babagana - Zulum

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has dismissed as false and malicious recent rumours alleging that he plans to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), along with five other governors.

The defection rumour had circulated widely on social media, suggesting he was on the way out of the APC with many citing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a likely destination following its adoption by the coalition led by former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and others.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, Governor Zulum described the report as a politically motivated fabrication designed to cause unnecessary tension and distract from the work of rebuilding Borno State.

“We have become aware of a fictitious and mischievous social media report circulating in certain quarters, alleging plans by me to decamp from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alongside five other governors,” the statement read.

“This is entirely false and exists only in the imagination of its sponsors. They are detractors who have made no meaningful contribution to the progress of Borno State or Nigeria.”

Governor Zulum stressed that his commitment to the APC remains unwavering and that he remains focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Borno.

“My loyalty to the APC remains firm, and my dedication is solely to the welfare and progress of Borno State,” he said.

“I urge the good people of Borno and the general public to disregard this fabrication. We have no time for cheap politics; our hands are full with the noble task of rebuilding and developing our dear state.”

He further condemned the circulation of unverified information and urged media outlets and the public to rely on credible sources before spreading political narratives.

“I call on media outlets and the public to verify information from credible official sources and to ignore the desperate fabrications of those seeking relevance through disinformation,” he advised.

Governor Zulum reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering good governance under the banner of the APC.

“We remain resolute in our commitment to serving Borno State under the banner of our great party, the APC,” he concluded.
