Zuckerberg’s Twitter-Clone, Threads is Exploring Potential Ad Formats for the App

Though there aren’t any monetisation tools available yet, Meta plans to add advertisements to its Threads platform by the end of 2024.

The company is reportedly in discussions with advertisers over possible ad formats, such as Partnership Ads and integrations with its Advantage+ platform, according to TechCrunch.

This decision is in line with Meta’s objective to grow ad impressions across its platforms, even though the microblogging platform hasn’t attained its goal of one billion users.

The change implies that, as Meta continues to develop its advertising environment, Threads may soon emerge as a significant source of income for the business.

Although Meta informed TechCrunch that it isn’t currently testing advertisements in Threads, it is putting more foundational elements in place, such as this “Sponsored” logo that may show up next to an advertiser’s or sponsored creator’s username. Developer Alessandro Paluzzi noticed it.

A sample ad unit that was in development was referenced in a JSON file called “bcn_single_image_ad,” which Chris Messina, a seasoned tech expert, discovered in the Threads app.

This discovery implies that the engineers at Threads are investigating advertising technologies, but it doesn’t specify when the platform will formally introduce adverts.

While developers Alessandro Paluzzi and Messina suggested that the platform’s new creator insights tool might be a sign of things to come, Threads seems to be getting ready for ad inclusion.

For instance, while Paluzzi only stated that Threads was “getting ready to bring ads to the app,” Messina highlighted the company’s recent release of creator insights as a first step towards introducing advertisements.

We earlier reported that a new feature in Meta’s well-liked X (previously Twitter) program Threads will assist users in finding trending topics.

The purpose of this new feature is to facilitate users’ ability to locate and follow conversations that are pertinent to their interests. Users in the US will now see a label displaying popular subjects.
