Ahead of the August 30th Local Government Council elections in Rivers State, political parties have been urged to strictly adhere to advertising regulations and laws during their electioneering campaigns.

In a statement obtained by journalists on Thursday, the Chairman of the Advertising Practitioners’ Association, Port Harcourt Chapter, Dike Bekwele, advised political parties and their candidates to ensure that all campaign materials are submitted to the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, ARCON, for validation through registered practitioners.

Bekwele cautioned against patronising unlicensed operators, describing it as a violation of the ARCON Act of 2022.

He stressed the importance of engaging only registered advertising practitioners who can facilitate the necessary clearance from the regulators before the commencement of campaigns.
