‘You’ve Rekindled Hope In Governance’ — Anyaso, Ex-YPP Chieftain, Praises Gov Otti
Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, former deputy governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in Abia State, has commended Governor Alex Otti for rekindling hope in governance and restoring dignity to public service in the state.
Anyaso spoke in a welcome address delivered during Governor Otti’s visit to Bende Federal Constituency on Friday.
“In just two years, you have rekindled hope in governance, restored dignity to public service, and shown that transformational leadership is not a myth—but a mandate that can be delivered with discipline, integrity, and empathy,” Anyaso stated.
The former YPP chieftain, who contested as deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections, acknowledged various achievements of the Otti administration to include infrastructural renewal, economic reforms, civil service sanitisation, and security reinforcement.
Speaking on developments in Bende, Anyaso noted improvements in road construction, school rehabilitation, and healthcare system repositioning, saying the changes have made people “beginning to believe again.”
The philanthropist declared his total support for the Otti administration and pledged to continue working with the governor “side by side” on the journey to rebuild Abia.
“I do so not out of convenience or compulsion, but out of conviction that you are the right man for the job, and that your leadership is exactly what our people deserve at this critical moment in our history,” he said.
The former YPP chieftain assured the governor that Bende Federal Constituency remains solidly behind his administration and expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver on his promises.
Anyaso, who formally resigned his membership of the YPP on Thursday, had affirmed that Otti’s “sterling” performance in his first two years would make it challenging for opposition parties to unseat him in the 2027 elections.
He had previously appealed to the governor to extend infrastructural development to the Igbere-Ozuitem-Bende road, describing it as crucial for connecting communities in the area.
“I want him to continue what he’s doing and I begged him to reconstruct the road from my hometown, Igbere to Ozuitem. I want the governor to beam his torchlight of development more on our place. The road, when fixed will also help to reduce the pressure on the Uzuakoli-Akara-Alayi-Abiriba road
“My dear governor, I am pleading on behalf of the Bende federal constituency. I have information on what is happening in Aba North and South federal constituency and the good thing about our governor is that he’s not focusing on one area; if you go to Ukwa you see his hand there, if you go to Arochukwu you will see his hand there. I want to use this Easter period to wish him well and tell him to continue the way he’s going,” he said in April.
