The Executive Chairman of Gulani Local Government Council of Yobe State, Alh. Dayyabu Ilu Njibulwa has formally received six persons cleared by Upper Shari’a Court for renouncing banditry and kidnapping in the area.

The LG’s Chief information officer, Ali Abdullahi Shishiwaji, disclosed this in a statement which indicated that the occasion took place at the local government secretariat in Bara and was attended by the DPO, DSS, NSCDC, Sharia Court Judge and Chairman Association of village Heads, Gulani LGA, among other dignitaries.

The Council Chairman, while addressing the repentants, charged them to consider the clearance by court as an opportunity to rebuild their lives in line with the religious and traditional norms.

Njibulwa, who also charged the people to accept the repentant criminals for reintegration into the society, advised those with such habit to consider renouncing their ugly attitude for peace, as the government was ready to accept anyone who genuinely agrees to renounce banditry, kidnapping, among other crimes.

The court cleared the repentant persons after presenting cogent signs of regret over their previous attitudes, in addition to taking an oath with the Holy Qur’an to satisfy the judge and the public of total renouncement of the ugly attitudes.

The court warned against abhorrence or any act capable of creating discomfort to the repentant persons.

The repentant criminals, who spoke through one of them, publicly expressed regret over their previous behaviours, assuring to work towards peace and progress of the local government and the state at large.
