XRP Community Awaits Judge’s Ruling as Lawyer Dismisses Prolonged Trial Rumors

Rumours suggesting that the ongoing legal battle between Ripple and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) could stretch into 2026 have stirred concern among XRP holders. But prominent crypto attorney Bill Morgan has pushed back against the speculation, calling such a delay unlikely.

Taking to X on June 23, Morgan clarified that the only scenario where the case could drag into late 2026 would be if Judge Analisa Torres rejects the latest joint motion filed by Ripple and the SEC. He described this possibility as improbable, arguing that the judge is more likely to uphold the summary judgment and penalties already on record, rather than allowing the case to spiral into another round of protracted litigation.

Morgan further explained that if Judge Torres grants the indicative ruling requested in the motion, the case could reach a resolution within weeks. While acknowledging some minor issues with the filing, he remained confident that the judge would take a reasonable stance and approve the motion—especially as both parties have shown a willingness to move toward settlement.

Still, not everyone shares Morgan’s optimism. A legal commentator who goes by Bale has projected that the case could extend through 2026 or even into 2027 if the court declines the joint motion. However, that prediction has not gained much traction within the wider crypto community, which is increasingly hopeful that the end of the multi-year lawsuit may be near.

Many observers now speculate that Judge Torres could be preparing to close the case, especially given the recent cooperative moves by Ripple and the SEC. As the legal proceedings enter what could be their final phase, XRP supporters are watching closely for any signs that closure is around the corner.
