Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has commended Air Peace for evacuating 533 stranded Nigerians from South Africa, describing the humanitarian mission as “patriotism in action.”

The senator, who represents Kogi Central, said the airline’s intervention demonstrated that corporate leadership goes beyond profit-making to serving humanity.

Air Peace on Tuesday completed its second evacuation flight from South Africa, bringing home 271 Nigerians aboard a Boeing 777-200 aircraft in partnership with the Federal Government.

With the latest operation, the airline has evacuated a total of 533 Nigerians in two missions. Air Peace said the exercise marked its 16th humanitarian intervention.

In a statement issued by her media office in Abuja on Wednesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan praised the airline’s chairman, management and staff for their commitment to the welfare of Nigerians.

“I extend my heartfelt commendation to Air Peace for showing that true leadership is measured by compassion and commitment to humanity.

“The safe return of 533 of our compatriots is a remarkable achievement. It reflects solidarity and love of country that every institution should uphold,” she said.

The lawmaker also applauded the collaboration between Air Peace and the Federal Government, saying such partnerships strengthen public confidence and improve the country’s response to emergencies.

“This is what happens when government and responsible private firms work together in the national interest. Air Peace has proven it is not just an airline, but a dependable national partner.

“At a time many Nigerians face uncertainty abroad, acts of kindness like this restore hope. I encourage other corporate organisations to emulate this spirit of service,” she added.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also welcomed the returnees home, expressing hope that they would find renewed opportunities in the country.

“On behalf of Kogi Central, I welcome our brothers and sisters back. I pray this new chapter brings peace, hope and better opportunities for all of them,” she said.

She described Air Peace as a symbol of Nigerian excellence, noting that its consistent humanitarian interventions have distinguished it as a national asset.

“The airline has written its name in gold. Its record of humanitarian missions shows that true greatness lies in serving humanity. Nigeria is proud, and history will remember this,” she said.

Air Peace has undertaken several evacuation missions for Nigerians caught in conflict and crisis zones over the years, with its latest operation further reinforcing its reputation for humanitarian service.
