Woman arraigned for alleged felony, threat to life

A 45-year-old farmer, Iyabo Akindutire, on Friday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for alleged felony and threat to life.
The defendant, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge bordering on felony and threat to life.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, informed the court that the defendant and two others, now at large, on September 2, at about 9:00 am, at No. 2, Okeraye Street in Okitipupa, allegedly conspired to commit felony.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant and others at large threatened the lives of the complainant, Funmi Loyinmi, and her workers for failing to supply her 30 pieces of planks.
Orogbeni told the court that the defendant and her accomplices had allegedly seized one Doman Motor Saw engine, one Pasun 400 HP generator, one Tiger chain and one steel bar, properties belonging to the complainant.
According to him, the offences contravened sections 516 and 86, Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Philip Akinlosetu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N400, 000 and one surety in like sum.
He held that the surety, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, should also present evidence of two years tax payment to the court’s registrar as part of the bail condition.
Akinlosetu adjourned the case until December 5, for hearing.
